Blog 2.0

Blog 2.0

Publicado el June 15, 2020

Last year I took the decision to discontinue my old blog (was developed using Wordpress) and start a new one but built by myself from scratch.

It was not an easy decision, to be honest. Wordpress has a lot of functionalities out of the box, nevertheless, my developer brain side always was arguing me that I didn't have any control in the web site. Now that I developed myself, it remembers me the "it ain't much, but it is honest work" meme. I haven't finished everything I want for this blog but now it is functional. So, I hope I can share with you about my software experiments or the new things I learn. Hope you like it. Welcome.

Now speaking a little bit more technically, when developing the blog I wanted to learn about Jamstack methodology, about Vue.js and Tailwind CSS. There are a couple of frameworks for doing this, but at the end I decided to use Gridsome. It is very easy to use and the resulting web site is light and fast. Documentation is not great but it is getting better every version. For a blog or a small site it is quite good. What I like now is that I have templates for each page type and the content is separated in text files in Markdown format. I am still learning about this technologies, but at least I feel everything is neater. For starting I used this link as reference: Building a Blog with Vue and Markdown Using Gridsome
